WORKSHOP 2 ASSIGNMENT
for the second assignment the students will be working individually


A. Find one case-study of city-hacktivism in your home country or in Brussels 

B. Present the case-study:
    - Why do you consider it as a city-hacktivism project?
    - Who organised the project?
    - When did it take place?
    - What was the goal of the project?

WORKSHOP 1 ASSIGNMENT
for the first assignment the students will be working in groups (of app. 6 people)
each group will use a specific method (listed underneath) to gather information


A. MAPPING OF THE 'VOID'  /  PAUSE-LAND/SPACES IN THE BXL MIDI AREA
approximate mapping area: see map

1. mapping through structured walking + observation of the activities going on
2. study and mapping based on the heat map of Brussels
(http://geowebgis.irisnet.be/BXLHEAT/mapviewer.jsf?langue=NL)
+ areal picture(s) (Google, Bing,…)
(+ verification on the terrain)

3. mapping based on official studies, plans, list of:
vacant buildings, abandoned sites, empty office buildings, …
(by the region, the municipalities, GOMB, Atrium, IRIS Vastgoed, …)

4. & 5. mapping and documenting based on i-net research
official news sites (Brussel Deze Week, De Standaard, Het Nieuwsblad,…)
blogs (Skyscraper City, Brussel Blogt, …)
‘urban explorers’(specific websites, Flickr,…)
websites of Brussels organisations (Cinema Nova, IEB, Bral, City Mine(d), ARAU, BBRW, Disturb, Quartier Midi, …)
