In (and around) cities socio-economical processes are often confronted with the inertness of the built environment. This can result in the ‘interruption’ of the continuity of urban fabric, as can be experienced in places of conflict, deterioration and/or vacancy. The readjustment and reappropriation of these kinds of spaces is time-consuming. Therefore there will always be a certain number of city spaces that are ‘under transition’. These spaces can be described as ‘pause-land/spaces’.
